Exemplary Programs
H.O.B. is a DE Recognition School that offers many engaging, exciting opportunities for our students as we educate the "whole child." The school emphasizes the "Leader in Me" philosophy which develops the individual leadership abilities of every student. Programs include the Cape Accelerated Program (CAP) , Spanish Immersion, HOSTS, PBS, Girls on the Run, Let Me Run, Service Club, Mentoring/Tutoring, 4th/5th Grade Chorus, and 5th Grade Instrumental Band. We are piloting several new STEM activities utilizing robotics (VEX). As a culturally diverse Title I school, we use a variety of curriculum resources aligned with the Common Core State Standards and ensure all students are engaged and challenged to achieve success. Our students benefit from accelerated learning and instructional support. Our Teacher/Parent/Student Compact ensures that everyone understands their important role in working together as a team, helping to make our school a positive, productive, safe and caring place

Curriculum Highlights
We strive to increase and maintain high academic expectations and achievement for our HOB students with continuous improvement for everyone. Emphasis is given to our core content areas of Reading, Writing, Math, Social Studies and Science skills using inquiry based curriculum and instruction aligned with our Common Core State Standards. Students demonstrate their learning and understanding of concepts across all grades thanks to the collaborative efforts of our stakeholders. Students have access to the support of an on-site Reading Specialist, Math Specialist and an ELL teacher who work with students and staff members to ensure the success of all. During classroom instruction and RTI each day, students' individual needs are met in small, flexible group settings. H.O.B. has 21st Century technology in all classes including state of the art computers, ipads, and Smart Boards.
