Exemplary Programs
North Dover Elementary School strives to create an environment that enhances the educational, social, and emotional development of our children. We are recognized by the Department of Education as a school that is "Beating the Odds." We do this in part by offering unique experiences that benefit our children in a variety of ways. We have over 45 volunteers that work with our students to reinforce skills or to serve as mentors. Our grade level teams utilize real-life experiences to extend learning within meaningful contexts. Special enrichment programs such as Super Science and Math Day, a Multicultural Fair, and a Career Fair have provided outstanding learning opportunities for students, staff, and families. In addition, character education and conflict resolution are provided through various programs in the school. The character traits of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility are taught. Students demonstrating these traits in fourth grade often serve as Peer Leaders.

Curriculum Highlights
At North Dover Elementary, the faculty and staff have completed training in all content areas and are using current research-based instructional programs and techniques to teach the district curriculum which is aligned to the state standards. Instruction includes the Six Trait Writing model, hands-on problem solving with Go Math!, and constructivist learning using Smithsonian and FOSS Science Kits. A reading and language arts block of at least ninety minutes is scheduled for every classroom each day. Supplementary materials such as Accelerated Reader and incentive programs are used to increase reading opportunities for all students. Enrichment is provided for gifted and talented students through Accelerated Curriculum and Technology (ACT) each week as well as Math League. A Reading Specialist, Math Specialist, Special Education Teachers, and Title I Paraprofessionals serve students who need additional support with their learning.
