Curriculum Highlights
Talley is committed to providing each student with a challenging educational experience that fosters critical thinking skills. This year, the school is using two books, "Focus," written by Mike Schmoker and "Cracking the Common Core," written by Lewis, Walpole, and McKenna. These two books will support our educational theme, "Back to the Future" where we strive to focus on the essentials; reading, writing, mathematics, and discussion. The math program offers courses from high school geometry to academic enrichment opportunities to help students meet and exceed the Common Core Standards. The Language Arts program emphasizes analytical thinking skills, reading strategies, and writing skills across content areas. Science at Talley consists of an inquiry-based approach to explore concepts that include Life Science, Earth Science, Physical Science and Chemistry. Talley’s Social Studies courses focus on History, Civics/Government, Economics and Geography.
