Exemplary Programs
The Appoquinimink Preschool Center serves preschoolers with and without disabilities in the Appoquinimink School District. An inclusive program is provided for three and four year old children. The faculty is trained in meeting the specific needs of young children and provide for those needs in a child-centered, nurturing, environment that is filled with a wealth of concrete, open-ended instructional materials. Daily opportunities are provided for the children to choose from a wide range of activities and experiences. Family Fun Nights allow parents to learn developmentally appropriate ways to help children grow and learn at home. Volunteers are a regular part of the day at the center and give of their time to work in the classrooms and serve on various committees. The vision of the center is to provide a nurturing environment where families and the school community engage young children in the life long journey of curiosity and a love of learning.

Curriculum Highlights
The Appoquinimink Preschool Center offers a half- day three year old program and a full-day four year old program. Socialization is an important focus throughout the day as students participate in centers, large and small group activities, Scholastic's Big Day for Pre-K Curriculum and Handwriting without Tears are used in all classrooms. The preschool is participating in the Delaware Stars for Success program and is currently a Star 4.
