Exemplary Programs
Sussex Central High School (SCHS), a diverse and dynamic community, strives to prepare students to be life-long learners and responsible global citizens. SCHS provides several programs and supports for struggling learners while providing rigorous instruction for all. Honors and AP classes are offered in all core content areas in order to allow students to challenge themselves in their area of interest and strength. SCHS is also proud to be an International Baccalaureate World School. SCHS has many opportunities for students, inside and outside of the classroom. These programs include our outstanding athletics programs or participating in the Centre for the Visual and Performing Arts and Take II Drama. SCHS also offers FFA, BPA, TSA, HOSA, GSA, NHS, SIA, Band, Chorus, JROTC, Science Olympiad, Math League, Multi-Cultural Club, Yearbook, Brother/Sister Knights, and many more. SCHS was recognized in 2016 as a "Superstar in Education" by the DE Chamber of Commerce.

Curriculum Highlights
As a comprehensive high school, Sussex Central High School focuses on preparing all students to meet college entrance requirements. Academic courses are offered at a minimum of College Prep while advanced learners take Honors, Advanced Placement, and/or International Baccalaureate courses. Beginning as early as the 9th grade, college bound students can take advantage of our 17 AP courses offered at Sussex Central High School. In addition, SCHS is an International Baccalaureate World School. IB Diploma Programme students take 7 required courses in their junior and senior year, accompanied with qualifying tests and other requirements to be eligible for the IB Diploma. SCHS also offers a number of CTE pathways with accompanying student organizations to bolster learning. Newly adopted pathways include the Teacher Academy, Academy of Finance and Allied Healthcare.
