Exemplary Programs
At Millsboro Middle School, we offer honors courses in reading and math, and programs aimed at developing the academic, emotional, and social well-being of all students. Some of the exemplary programs we offer are: Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), Academic Challenge (AC), Positive Behavior System (PBS), Business Professionals of America (BPA), Future Farmers of America (FFA), National Junior Honor Society (NJHS), Odyssey of the Mind, Math League, and Talent Search to name a few. We also offer exploratory programs in the Performing Arts, Business/Computers, Art, Spanish, and Agriculture to help prepare students for college and career pathways at the high school. Additionally, we offer various athletic programs including volleyball, which is not offered at all state middle schools. We also provide our parents and community members opportunities to mentor through Creative Mentoring, and to advocate through our Title I committee.

Curriculum Highlights
With a focus on school-wide reading and writing literacy, the staff at MMS uses data-driven instruction to progress student achievement in meeting the Delaware State Standards for college and career readiness. This instruction is differentiated for all students based on academic needs. We support struggling students through our Response to Intervention (RtI) model, as well as our AVID program, a “college readiness system designed to increase school-wide learning and performance through a curriculum focused on rigorous standards, WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, Reading strategies), Cornell note-taking, and Socratic Seminars.” For all of our students, we are pleased to offer College Board’s Springboard curricula in reading and math. Additionally, we provide challenging opportunities for those students who meet or exceed state standards through RtI enrichment activities and exemplary extra-curricular programs.
