Exemplary Programs
John M. Clayton Elementary School offers exemplary programs that include Student Mentoring, ExCEL for high-ability students, Fifth Grade Band, Spanish Language Immersion Program, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education. We host regular parent nights that include open house, Spanish Immersion information nights, and a reading, math and science night throughout the school year. Our Parent Teacher Organization is very active and hosts many events/fundraisers throughout the school year. Other annual events include grade-level choral concerts, a talent show and band events. Our students participate in Meaningful Economics competitions as well as, for the 2017-2018 school year, students will participate in a robotics competition.

Curriculum Highlights
The students of John M. Clayton Elementary School have made exceptional progress in meeting state standards. Teachers and staff use a variety of data sources to ensure that appropriate instruction and learning are occurring. Student progress is monitored regularly with interventions provided in a timely manner, as needed. Teachers, specialists and administrators work diligently to meet the instructional needs of students using the state defined a process of Response to Intervention and within the context of a Professional Learning Community. When necessary, even more, intense supports are provided for English Language Learners and students with disabilities.
STEM education is provided through Project Lead the Way curriculum that is integrated into instruction through STEM class and regular science instruction. Bridges math program is utilized for mathematics instruction and the Benchmark Advanced for ELA curriculum. Social studies education is important to the students of JMC so tea
