Exemplary Programs
CIS offers a comprehensive Common Core State Standard-based education to students in grades 5 & 6. Currently, Envisions Math for sixth grade, Bridges Math for fifth grade, Reading Wonders for fifth grade, Pearson Reading series for sixth grade, Next Generation Science programs and Social Studies provide the materials and structure of our daily instruction. We are a Learning Focused school in our instructional approach and strategies utilized. In addition to differentiated instruction in reading, writing, math, science and social studies, offerings of music, chorus, band, physical education, art, library and technology round out the complete academic program for all grades. Our small group special education and support services team create and implement specialized education program for students who are differently-abled. This includes the use of innovative and technology-driven programs such as System 44, Read 180 and Math 180.
CIS offers before-school & after-school care/clubs.

Curriculum Highlights
Clayton Intermediate School’s curriculum is aligned with the Common Core State Standards. Each grade-level department utilizes the same resources and curriculum and maintains appropriate instructional pace throughout the school year. Our teachers are all dually certified and also participate in numerous professional development experiences in order to ensure consistent improvement. We provide instruction in the content areas of Reading, Grammar, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Art, Music, Physical Education, Technology, and Library are the related arts classes offered to every student.
