Exemplary Programs
Smyrna High School provides a positive school climate emphasizing the district’s core values of Compassion, Responsibility, Respect, Integrity, and Perseverance. Among the programs available to our students are Air Force Jr ROTC, Ag Sciences, Business Careers, Allied Health, Early Childhood Education, Careers in Education, Jobs for Delaware Graduates, Environmental Science, Arts, STEM and World Languages. Smyrna High School also offers 19 Varsity Sports and 38 Student Activity Clubs.

The curriculum used in each Academic area has been aligned with the State Grade Level Expectations and the National Common Core Standards. Honors classes are available in all core areas. Advanced Placement (AP) courses and dual enrollment courses are available as options for students to earn college credits while they are in high school. The Credit Advancement Program (CAP) provides an online learning environment as an additional opportunity for students to complete coursework required for graduation.

Curriculum Highlights
The curriculum used in all courses at Smyrna High School has been aligned with the State of Delaware Grade Level Expectations and the National Common Core Standards. The lessons used by teachers utilize Learning Focused Strategies which enable the students to be active learners who contribute to the lesson. Honors classes are available in the four core Academic areas and Spanish. The 14 Advanced Placement (AP) courses continue their success and enrollment continues to grow. Academy classes are available for 9th and 10th grade students who need extra assistance in English Language Arts and/or Mathematics. The Credit Advancement Program (CAP) provides an online learning environment for students to complete coursework required for graduation. Additionally, Smyrna High School has partnered with Delaware Technical and Community College to offer seniors the opportunity to begin college courses and workskills development in the career field of Energy Management.
