Exemplary Programs
Clayton Elementary School offers a comprehensive Common Core State Standards aligned curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students in grades K - 4. Our highly qualified faculty provide instruction in the core academic areas using current research-based teaching strategies. Students receive related arts classes on a daily basis including music, physical education, art, and library. All teachers infuse technology into their lessons in order to enhance the learning process and fully engage all students in the learning process. The Smyrna Triad Enrichment Program (STEP) provides enrichment to students in whole classroom and pullout settings.

Our PTO supports our students by providing funds for field trips and assists with our many student activities and community events. Clayton Elementary's student body demonstrates their compassion and talents by producing and performing in the annual Veterans' Day program, holiday concert, plays and a spring musical.

Curriculum Highlights
Kindergarten through 4th grade students are grouped heterogeneously with dually certified teachers in all grade levels. The curriculum aligns with the Common Core State Standards particularly in the areas of Language Arts, Mathematics, and Social Studies. Science curriculum is currently being revised to meet the Next Generation Science Standards. Administration meets regularly with grade level teams to review and reflect upon assessment data and to discuss strategies and motivational techniques for improving students' success rates.
