Exemplary Programs
During the 13-14 school year, W. T. Chipman students performed above state targets in the areas of Mathematics and ELA. WTC had 80% in Reading and 80% in Mathematics of students make Proficiency in accordance to the Delaware Accountability System. Our students outscored the overall state average in the DCAS assessment in all 3 grade levels and each Sub-group! By offering daily Curriculum Support classes to our students, Chipman has established a master schedule that addresses the needs of all students.

Chipman is much more than just an institution of academics. Our student-athletes displayed great sportsmanship and competed at a high level in all of our athletic offerings. We offer over 14 sporting programs for our students to choose from each year. In addition to athletics, our performing arts programs and FFA, BPA rank among the best middle school performers in the state of Delaware.

Curriculum Highlights
Learning Focused Strategies is a staple for instructional design at Chipman Middle. The staff at W.T. Chipman has embraced LFS and developed units of study centered on the strategies from Learning-Focused. This year, Chipman Staff will be revamping units of study in preparations for the Smarter Balance Assessments and the Common Core State Standards.

WTC is continuing the "Meet the Challenge" program and Achieve 3000. The MTC program is focused making students more successful on identified standards of weakness in accordance to individual needs. Teachers from all core academic areas have developed activities and assessments to prepare our students. With Achieve 3000, we address student reading levels and lexile levels to increase academic vocabulary and reading stamina.

Chipman will continue to offer Algebra as well as Geometry in the area of mathematics; students take the same mid-term and final as LFHS Algebra class which earns them high school credit. In the area of Engl
