Exemplary Programs
During the 14-15 school year, W. T. Chipman students had the opportunity to excel in our Superstars in Education Award Winning Master Schedule that enables students to maximize their time in core content classes while enjoying exposure to many exploratory classes before committing to a Pathway as High School students. In addition, any student that needs additional supports in the areas of mathematics or ELA are afforded the opportunity in our 32 minute E-time class. Chipman is much more than just an institution of academics. Our student-athletes displayed great sportsmanship and competed at a high level in all of our athletic offerings. We offer over 14 sports programs for our students to choose from each year. In conjunction with athletics, our performing arts programs of Band and Chorus; as well as FFA and BPA rank among the best middle school performers in the State of Delaware.

Curriculum Highlights
The driving force behind all of our instruction is the Common Core State Standards. With that, we implement Learning Focused Strategies as a staple for instructional design at Chipman Middle. The staff at W.T. Chipman has embraced LFS and developed units of study centered on the strategies developed from Learning-Focused. This year, Chipman Staff will be revamping our units of study to incorporate a more student centered approach to teaching and learning. WTC is continuing its relationship with Achieve 3000, a literacy intervention program designed to increase student lexile levels and move students to at or above grade level reading. Teachers from all core academic areas have developed common units of study with activities and assessments to prepare our students. Students at Chipman will be exposed to Process and Product assignments that will enable them to demonstrate mastery of the standard. WT Chipman has Algebra I, Geometry, and English 9 classes for our Accelerated 8th grade
