Exemplary Programs

During the 10-11 school year, W. T. Chipman students and staff made strides to improvement and our goal of being the best Middle School in the State. We made Commendable School Status in accordance to the Delaware Accountabilty System in 2011. Our students outscored the overall state average in the DCAS assessment in all 3 grade levels. By offering daily Cuuriculum Support classes to our students, Chipman is doing all that we can to ensure No Child is Left Behind.
Our student-athletes displayed great sportsmanship and competed at a high level in all of our athletic offerings. We were recognized as a leader in innovation from the Vision Network for the work our staff and students are doing. This past year, each grade level continued to give back to the community through community service projects. Our school teamed with AARP and Jeff Gordon's Foundation in an effort to stop hunger in our Senior Citizen Community. Chipman is Kind, Compassionate, and Tolerant!

Curriculum Highlights
|
|
This year the Lake Forest School District made Learning Focused Strategies a priority for instruction. The staff at W.T. Chipman embraced LFS and has developed units of study centered on the strategies from Learning-Focused. WTC is continuing the "Meet the Challenge" program. The MTC program is focused making students more successful on Standardized Assessments. Teachers from all core academic areas have developed activities and assessments to prepare our students. We will continue to offer the 8th grade Algebra class; students take the same mid-term and final as LFHS Algebra class which earns them high school credit. W.T. Chipman is striving to educate the "whole" student by revamping its offerings through the exploratory classes and enrichment periods. This year, students will be able to take Chorus, General Music, the Arts, Consumer Science and a Fitness Class in all three grade levels.
