Exemplary Programs
Welch Elementary promotes a caring attitude throughout the school community by providing quality educational opportunities to meet the needs of all students. To promote this, the FISH Philosophy is practiced. This philosophy brings a positive, light-hearted attitude daily to work, while creating a climate of happiness, well-being and concern for one another. Additionally the school provides enrichment clusters for students each semester to explore individual interests that students can foster. Parental support is an integral part of the success of our school. The school uses a passport system to track parental involvement at our school activities. Students move up in rank when attending school functions. The student council hosts our annual Hotdogs with Heroes event to thank the heroes in our student's lives. We also hold MRE (Math, Reading and Eating) events quarterly to encourage families to spend time together focusing on reading and math.

Curriculum Highlights
The Caesar Rodney School District has established a curriculum development process which supports alignment to the Delaware Recommended Curriculum/Common Core State Standards. This process involves teacher and administrative input through a Curriculum Cabinet and Council process. The preparation of our students as life-long learners in a global community of the 21st century society is the unifying objective of this process. The curriculum not only identifies essential knowledge and skills, but also supports students’ development in problem solving and gathering and using resources that will enable them to succeed. Each content area (English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Visual and Performing Arts, World Languages, Physical Education, Health, and Family and Consumer Sciences) also has an Assessment of Learning and Assessment for Learning component to support students in the learning process and to determine specific performance relative to the State Standards.
