Exemplary Programs
Wilbur Elementary has an excellent staff dedicated to helping all students reach their full potential. Student success is our goal! A focus on higher-level thinking skills, creativity, and problem solving is prevalent in our classrooms. By having high behavioral and academic expectations, our teachers provide children with a firm foundation upon which they can build a lifetime of learning. Our belief is that students must have a high engagement rate in their daily learning in order to maximize their potential. Therefore, a wide variety of instructional activities are offered throughout the curriculum which take advantage of many different types of learning styles. Both reading and writing are integrated through other subject areas, and students are able to show that they have learned content in a variety of performance-based assessments and projects. Students are encouraged to work together cooperatively as they engage in hands-on activities whenever possible.

Curriculum Highlights
At Wilbur Elementary, we strive to make learning fun for our students. One way that we have done this is by implementing several school-wide activity days throughout the year. For example, students participated in Wildcat Mathmania. On this day, children rotated to different classroom participating in fun, hands-on mathematics activities. They came away from the day saying things like, "Math is fun!" and "That didn't feel like learning!" On Storybook Character Day, parents were invited in to participate in reading activities with their children. Staff surprised the students by dressing as their favorite storybook characters. Both band and choral programs are available at Wilbur Elementary and help develop the musical talents of our students. Other curricular programs, like the 24 Game Club and Accelerated Reader, are offered in order to expand students' learning opportunities.
