Exemplary Programs
Pleasantville Elementary School provides children with a firm foundation upon which they can build a lifetime of learning. Our belief is that students must be truly involved and engaged in their daily learning in order to promote success. Therefore, a wide variety of instructional activities are offered throughout the day to address the needs of many different types of intelligences and learning styles. Both reading and writing are integrated throughout all subject areas, and students are able to show that they have learned in a variety of performance-based assessments. Students are encouraged to work together cooperatively while developing higher-order thinking skills and problem-solving techniques. Our teachers are well versed in understanding the State Content Standards and what students need to master in order to meet or exceed standards on the state test.

Our teachers receive on-going staff development and training opportunities in all subject areas. Pleasantville's staff is dedicated to providing support services to assist students both academically and socially throughout the school day. Our school guidance counselor provides individual and group counseling and also implements classroom lessons to develop social skills. Outside agencies help us to provide high-quality instruction about health and emotional development.
