Newark High School is a comprehensive high school stressing the importance of an 'Academic Environment'. We offer three levels of instruction: College Preparatory, Honors and AP courses. Newark offers over 20 different Advanced Placement courses for students in grades 10-12, as well as the Cambridge Program, which is available to students at both 9th and 10th grade. The Business, Finance and Information Technology department at Newark offers students a variety of courses in banking, accounting, marketing and technology. The World Language Department at Newark High School offers students four languages: Latin, French, German and Spanish.

Curriculum Highlights

Newark High School offers comprehensive academic courses designed for all needs and abilities to meet state standards and district requirements; Newark has a wide range of exciting instructional opportunities for students’ interests, abilities and career goals. It is the only comprehensive high school with a fully equipped telecommunications studio in the state. The NHS Fine Arts Department consists of Art, Band, Chorus, Photography, Orchestra and Theatre. NHS Art students have been well represented in local contests, competitions and displays across the state of Delaware including DCAD, Scholastic Art, Excellence in Drawing and PTSA Reflections. There are two concert bands; The Wind Ensemble and the Symphonic Band, a full orchestra and five different choral groups. Major concerts are performed at the school and in the community throughout the year.
