Exemplary Programs
Newark High School is a comprehensive high school stressing the importance of an academic environment. We offer three levels of instruction: College Preparatory, Honors, and Advanced Placement. Newark provides the opportunity to students in grades 10-12 to take over 15 Advanced Placement courses. Newark offers the Cambridge Examination Program to accepted students, which provides an extremely challenging international curriculum for 9th and 10th grade students. The World Language program offers Spanish and French. Our Career and Technical Education Department has pathways in business, marketing, accounting, travel, culinary arts, animal science, computer science, and telecommunications. Many of the clubs associated with these career pathways receive awards at state and national competitions. Newark High incorporates the use of technology in the classroom using two MAC carts, iPad carts, five computer labs, eight computer carts and classrooms that incorporate interactive technology.

Curriculum Highlights
Newark High School offers comprehensive academic courses designed for all needs and abilities in order to meet district and state requirements and the Common Core Curriculum. Newark has a wide range of exciting instructional opportunities for students’ interests, abilities and career goals. It is the only comprehensive high school in the state with a fully equipped telecommunications studio. The NHS Fine Arts Department consists of Art, Band, Chorus, Photography, Orchestra and Theatre. NHS Art students have been well represented in local contests, competitions and displays across the state of Delaware including DCAD, Scholastic Art, and PTSA Reflections. There are two concert bands; The Wind Ensemble and the Symphonic Band, a full orchestra and five different choral groups. To highlight our Fine Arts Department, Newark has an Academy of Creative Expression (ACE) that is an acceptance only program that provides enrichment activities to students interested in the arts.
