Exemplary Programs
We, at Shue-Medill Middle School are proud of the many programs in our school. Here are some of the highlights: Music, Cambridge, AVID, Language Arts, Math, Positive Behavior Support (PBS), and National Junior Honor Society. The music program consists of Concert and Symphonic bands, Wind ensembles, Orchestra (Shue Strings) and three choruses. Cambridge helps students become confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged. Ready to tackle the demands of tomorrow’s world, capable of shaping a better world for the future. AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a college readiness system that uses researched-based strategies to improve student learning. Students are provided with an Intervention/Enrichment Block each day. RTI (Response to Intervention) is offered during this time to all grade levels in both English and Math.

Curriculum Highlights
Shue-Medill's schedule meets the needs of all students by including instructional programs that offer student opportunities to use literacy skills in all content areas. The Cambridge curriculum has aims and objectives that support students to become confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged. These are the attributes of Cambridge learners.The AVID classes provide academic support to prepare students for future academic success.

We offer a wide variety of clubs, sports, music programs and enrichment opportunities. Highlights of the clubs are: FCCLA, Student Government, Go Green, Odyssey of the Mind, Science Olympiad and Empowering Young Ladies (EYL) . The (EYL) participate in activities that foster respect for self and others. Sports, we have soccer, basketball, track, and cheerleading. All of these programs offer opportunities to demonstrate leadership and participate in community service activities.
