Curriculum Highlights
Our curriculum focuses on the alignment of priority skills identified for each grade level. The instructional programs currently being implemented at Wilson Elementary School are directly linked to the School Success Plan. Students are provided with rigorous instruction based on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. During English Language Arts (ELA), students receive instruction at their level through differentiated small group instruction. These flexible groups are focused on specific areas of student need and are created based on a variety of assessment data. Our Math Connects Program addresses the Common Core State Standards by establishing strong core concept knowledge that challenges students to become real world problem solvers. Differentiated instruction occurs within our math block to address the various ability levels of our students. Smithsonian science kits are used at each grade level and provide hands-on activities
