Curriculum Highlights
At Keene, we offer Integrated Language Arts through flexible grouping and interventions. We use student assessment data to plan for all students to maximize their potential. In reading, comprehension, phonemic awareness, and oral fluency are critical skills. We use Smithsonian Kits to provide our science instruction, which is all hands on through experimentation. In math, we use a series called "Math Connects", which is more student and parent friendly and exposes students to solving Math using prior experiences. Every child has access to Reading and Math Interventions to provided targeted instruction in their area/areas of need. Technology enhances instruction throughout the day. Every classroom is equipped with a SmartBoard. Keene's RTI (Response to Intervention) Team helps students who are having difficulty with academics or behavioral skills. Our Advanced Academics program provides students with opportunities outside the classroom.
