Curriculum Highlights
Stanton is an AVID school. AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is dedicated to closing the achievement gap by preparing all students for college and other postsecondary opportunities. The Common Core State Standards reflect the path that AVID students and educators follow, a path that spirals upward, establishing a solid foundation of literacy skills in one grade before ratcheting up the rigor in the next. The AVID system is inquiry-based, and it supports the tenets that are woven throughout the Common Core Standards; AVID teaches students to think critically as they solve problems and rise to educational challenges.
Stanton’s curriculum is based on the content standards and performance indicators as adopted by the State of Delaware. School programs and lessons have been structured using these standards and indicators.
