Exemplary Programs
We are a Positive Behavior Support school. Through PBS, we teach kids how we expect them to act. At the start of each school year, students practice the behavior we expect. The behaviors are rewarded with “Falcon Four” tickets. Our Meet the Challenge, Too program focuses on instructional needs. Our teachers use data to identify skills that need improvement. Students practice these skills with lessons. Students who do not master a skill are given extra practice. Students who master a skill go to an enrichment activity. HIP Kids, a 2008 Superstars in Education award winner, is a program to help students pass the DSTP. Teachers work with students on their instructional needs, during school, lunch and after school. During the 2008-2009 school year we will begin an Advisor-Advisee program that matches students with teachers for academic, career, and personal/social guidance activities. Stanton Middle School is a Model of Excellence in Education for 2008 and a Blue Ribbon School nominee.

Curriculum Highlights
Stanton’s curriculum is based on the content standards and performance indicators as adopted by the State of Delaware. School programs and lessons have been structured using these standards and indicators. Students have the opportunity to explore information technology using our state-of-the-art computer and math literacy labs. The experiences can be as varied as using software to learn how to balance equations or create an outline using Inspiration. Courses are offered in computers, business and technology. Stanton has an active group of students involved in the creative and performing arts. These classes consist of band, chorus, and strings. The students perform several concerts each year. Music students also participate in district and state-wide festivals, including All-State Band and All-State Chorus. The band has had various guest conductors lead them through selected rehearsals. String players have participated in other middle school concerts and All-District Orchestra.
