Exemplary Programs
We are very proud of the fact that we are a "Leader in Me" school. “The Leader in Me” is a whole school transformation process based on Stephen Covey’s “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.” It teaches 21st century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based off of the idea that every child can be a leader.

We also offer many programs geared towards the enrichment of our children. These include: Odyssey of the Mind; Lego League; Programming Club; Eco-Club; Morning News Crew; Chorus; Band; Orchestra and Musical Theater. Students are encouraged to make our world a better place for our neighbors and future generations. They participate in a number of service activities and have donated pajamas, books, and clothing to those less fortunate in our community. Students recently worked with staff members to develop a number of green initiatives and programs at school.

Curriculum Highlights
Our Balanced Literacy Program provides students with the necessary tools to be successful independent readers, writers and thinkers. All students are instructed in a differentiated whole group setting, as well as in small groups facilitated by the teacher. Our mathematics program is aligned with the Common Core State Standards and encourages students to reason abstractly and quantitatively, construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others, and make sense of problems and persevere in solving them. Social Studies classes focus on civics, economics, geography and history. A number of our classes also participate in the Junior Achievement program. Our inquiry-based science curriculum provides opportunities for hands-on investigation and experimentation as students interact with the natural world. Vital to the development of the “whole” child, all students receive Related Arts instruction in the areas of art, library, music, technology and physical education.
