Exemplary Programs
Shortlidge Academy is located at 100 West 18th Street, Wilmington Delaware. Shortlidge Academy and Warner Elementary are neighboring schools forming a Community Campus. Shortlidge Academy serves students enrolled in kindergarten – Grade 2 and living in the Shortlidge / Warner attendance zone. Students enrolled in Grades 3-5 and living in the attendance zone attend Warner Elementary School. Shortlidge Academy takes pride in being a community school and Title I school. A community school is a place and set of partnerships of the school, community based organizations and other resources. Shortlidge Academy is a center of the community – open to children, parents and community members before, during and after the school day. The programs provided at Shortlidge represent a shared strategy among partners and stakeholders to promote improved student learning, stronger families and a healthier school community.

Curriculum Highlights
The curriculum focus at Shortlidge Academy has a deliberate concentration on primary educational practices, reading readiness and early intervention. The Kindergarten – Grade 2 targeted grade band strategies include: instructional frameworks, intervention practices, systems and procedures, whole child supports, Professional Learning Communities and increase parent engagement opportunities. The Scott Foresman Reading Series and Math Expressions Series support student learning in the classroom.
