Curriculum Highlights

Harlan is consistently committed to academic excellence through rigorous curriculum and instructional expectations. The traditional academic subjects are valued. Grades KN to 5 implement the Eureka math curriculum. The Book Worms reading program promotes high cognitive thinking skills and incorporates a strategic writing approach to ensure our students are effective communicators. We infuse small group instruction into daily routines to ensure that individual learning needs are met as we work to challenge all ability levels. Every student also receives Response to Intervention support in Math and Reading. Reading intervention is supported by Strategic Reading Strategies (Walpole). In Science, we implement the Next Generation Science Standards through the Smithsonian Science kits. Our Science Club provide students with hands on opportunities to explore this rich curriculum.
