Curriculum Highlights
Our Common Core State Standards classroom instruction is collaboratively designed to develop strong readers that are mathematically minded problem solvers who communicate effectively. Students receive instruction in Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, Media/Library Science, Music, and P.E. Instruction is supported through a variety of resources: Kid Writing, Journeys Reading Series, Next Generation Science/STEAM activities, and iPad technology. Teachers use online resources to enhance the curriculum. The RtI and Targeted Teams guide the implementation of scaffolding supports to address the diverse needs of our students. Forwood was named a National Green Ribbon School winner in 2017! We will continue to utilize our raised bed garden to enrich science instruction, inclusive of planting and growing vegetables, focus on recycling, and conserving energy. Produce grown in the fall will be served to students at lunch, which supports our sustainable food project.
